Luna Goddess

I did this painting last weekend, when I finally found some ME time!

I was inspired to create this after looking up something on google where I saw a line drawing of a Goddess with the moon as part of her head. (The site crashed my computer when I clicked on the image though so I can't credit the person whose drawing it was as I don't know.) I loved the idea so wanted to create one of my own.

I used Caran D'ache water colour crayons, water colour pencils and a touch of acrylics on water colour paper.

Thoughts

Yesterday at our monthly crop, instead of scrapbooking, I worked on a new canvas.

Mixed media on canvas

I used water colour crayons, acrylic paint, Dylusion sprays, stamps, ink. The circles were cut out of white, text and music paper coloured with watercolour and then stenciled on using spray inks and then doodled on with black pen. I stuck them on with gel medium.

I have had a lot going on the last few weeks and this painting represents all the thoughts that are swimming around in my head all the time. When I can't sleep because I am worried about things I try to imagine each thought as a bubble and set it free out into the ether so I can get some rest....sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!!

Paige's dream

Here is a little something I finished last week. I couldn't post until now as it was for Paiges birthday which we celebrated yesterday at our monthly swap.

This canvas was inspired greatly by the work of Tam over at willowing.org. I have done a couple of her courses and they have been fantastic.

The canvas was A4 size and I used water colour crayons, acrylic paint (Dylusions), water colour pencils, Tim Holtz tissue tape, stencils and stamps. 'Paige's dream'

Art work

Thought I would post some art work that I have completed over the last few weeks when I didn't have any internet to distract me!

'A call for Birth'

20"x30" canvas

This is a painting I did for my sisters birthday a couple of weeks ago. It is of the Goddess Ostara and spring and symbolises fertility and birth. It is a mix of water colour crayons, pencils and acrylics.

Journal page using Dylusions paints and ink sprays and various stamps. The big flowers were stamped onto kitchen towel that I had used to blot up the ink and then glued on.

I completed this page in my truthful journal yesterday. I used Dylusion paints and ink sprays, stencils, a crackle stamp. The main stamp is by paperartsy and I stamped it onto tissue and then used gel medium to stick it on.

This page is about our frustrating house move. Again, I have used Dylusions paints and ink sprays, a freebie stamp and the house stamps are by Invoke art. I used Tim Holtz tissue tape along the bottom and masking tape for the title.

I did this page a while ago but never posted it. Paints, spray inks and stamps by Dylusions and the lady was cut out of a magazine.

Maiden, Mother and Crone

This is what I have been doing today.

It started as a sketch last night and I was pleased with how it turned out so decided to paint it today.

I used Caran D'ache watercolour crayons and acrylic paints.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely comments about my son. He has spoken to his year head and has to fill in a form from student services and then the year head will deal with it. Hopefully it will get sorted, if it doesn't I will go to the school. I want to give him the chance to sort it out himself before I step in!

Art journalling mojo

My scrapbooking mojo may have left the building for a while but my art journalling mojo has taken up residence in its place! I am really enjoying doing these journals and am trying to doodle something everyday.

This one has my fav poem on it. I covered the page with old texts and music sheets and then drew the face and the bird over the top. I then used my watercolour crayons for the background and some stamps to finish it off.

On this one I wanted to try using some masks. I have not had a lot of luck using masks on my other pages, the colour always seems to leak underneath the mask, but I have found what the problem was...I need to be patient and wait for the paint to dry so that the mask sticks to the paper! I covered this page with brown kraft wrapping paper and old text pages and then gessoed over sections of it. I cut the lady from a magazine and used re posisional spray to stick it down. I used watercolour crayons to paint the background, let that dry and then used Tim Holtz alphabet mask for the words and a compass mask and inked around them with distress inks and used some mica sprays. I drew the poppy heads on and wrote the quote on the ladys body. I am really pleased with how this has turned out and will be practising with masks some more.

Also, I only have two pages left to complete on the sketchbook project and then I can get that sent off. I am pleased I took part in the project, even though I am rushing the end pages slightly to get it sent off in time! I will post them when Im done.

The sketchbook project

I have ummed and ahhed over putting my sketchbook project work on my blog but as this is what im spending most of my time doing at the moment I have decided to post them. I would really value your opinions on what I have done so far. I have struggled with this project. I had just reached a point in my art journalling where I was able to just 'do it' and not worry about how it turned out, to be able to just enjoy creating art and let it flow, and then I started this and back came all the insecurities...people are going to look at this (hopefully!) so I had to get it right, it had to be perfect, and it's taken me back to square one again! I am trying really hard not to be precious with it and there are a couple of pages I am really not happy with but I am going to leave them in.

I chose the theme 'sorry I forgot you' and am doing how I have forgotton who I used to be when I was younger. I decided to help the art work come, that I would write a poem and have that running through out the book...it hasn't quite worked like that as my poem is only 8 verses long so that has only given me 8 pages of work! I don't know yet how I will continue with it, should I write another poem or just do random stuff for the rest of the book???

The mirror frame is cardboard that I triple embossed then stamped into.

2nd page

And thats as far as I have got! I have one more verse of poem to do and will then have to thing about how to continue the book.
I have tried to vary my style on every page using all the stuff I have learnt so far on my art journalling journey.

Another day, another journal page

I finished another journal page today.

The page was pre painted with acrylics then I used magazine pictures for the collage. The legs and butterfly wings were freebie downloads (sorry can't remember which site as I downloded quite a few yesterday!)
I cut the triangles out of scrapbook paper and drew some more trees with watercolour pencils. I extended the ribbon from the mag picture by drawing it in with pencil. I used glimmer mist on the trees and a purple ink pad to add some depth. I am really pleased with how this one turned out.
I was a bit naughty yesterday and ordered some Caran D'ache watersoluble crayons and they arrived this morning so I'm going to have a play with them later.
